Working with students and teaching music are my love and passion, as well as my full time profession. This statement comprises both my teaching philosophy and business policies of my studio. My teaching style is traditional and based on the Russian School of musical training. I believe that playing piano and learning about music should be a joyful experience for every student. I strive to charge students with a positive attitude to learning and adjust my teaching methods to each individual child and to his or her ability to learn. Music is a language, and like with any language, there are many basics which must be mastered prior to advancing to more complex applications. During a course of study, I attempt to cover all areas of musicianship: theory, technique, formal analysis, harmony, sight-reading, performance, and a comprehensive study of musical literature in a progressive fashion. I truly feel that a well-rounded musical education helps students define for themselves what music means to them.

Fees and Materials
Tuition fee is due monthly and covers weekly lessons of 45 or 60 minutes. Music books, materials, festival fees, recital fees, and syllabus fees are not included in the tuition.
PRACTICE AND PARENTAL SUPPORT
Sufficient scheduled practice time on a daily basis is the surest guarantee that you, or your child, will experience consistent progress at the piano. Learning the necessary skills to become proficient at the keyboard will not occur by simply going to piano lessons. It takes committed daily practice to bring skills acquired during the lesson to fruition. Parental support is an extremely important factor and I strongly urge parents to attend weekly lessons and thus become better equipped to assist his/her child with practice sessions at home.
RECITALS AND PERFORMANCES
During the year, several performance opportunities are made available to students. Syllabus, piano recitals and festivals are offered by the OMTA. I also organize and require all students to participate in the Winter and Spring term studio recitals. These recitals provide pupils with further incentive to practice and excel, and have a positive effect on a student’s sense of accomplishment.
